That really depends on what you use requirements. Need it to function as a dining table and a game table? The Emissary is the correct choice. Want a dedicated game room table for miniature battles? Consider the Spartan. Do you want to play RPGs and Miniatures at the same table in a dedicated game room, that's Sultan territory.

No. We handle all of our own freight so that this doesn't happen. Delivery includes installation in your room where one of our people will go over the final details and answer any remaining questions you may have.

As you would imagine it depends on your location. We are located in Washington State so those east coast deliveries do cost a bit. A good guide line is 800 to 1000 dollars for a Sultan delivery on the east coast, diminishing as you work your way back to the west.

What if I want my table made out of a wood that isn't from a sustainable forest?

If it is important to match a wood that is not sustainable currently we can work with you if you are willing to use reclaimed lumber. Acquiring the right wood from these sources does take time however.

What do I do if it gets dammaged.

First consider the fact that regular everyday wear and dings give your table the the stature and bearing of something that has seen use. Scars tell stories. Also remember that the dings and scratches won't be penetrating a veneer and exposing an ugly interior.

However the day may come when it needs to be sanded and refinished. Refinishing is an art and we would recommend engaging a professional to do so. We will always be available to offer advice should that day come.

Does it come in one piece?

No, the legs are detachable and the acrylic is removable. This allows us to maneuver it more easily during installation. The depth of the table is 11 inches, the width is 5.5 feet and the length is 7.5 or 9 feet depending on your model. This is what you need to be thinking of when you are trying to decide where to put it.

Is the table identical on both sides?

How do I remove the accidental application of permanent marker on my acrylic surface?

An old school remedy is if a sharpie type permanent marker was applied, running the ink of a dry erase marker over it will usually remove the scar. We also carry a deep cleaning product for such a situation or if staining occurs over time. This product is a solvent and must be applied carefully because it will not only remove the stain, but it will remove the catalyzed lacquer coating the wood of the table, so do not spray it on any of the wooden surfaces!

Can you write on the acrylic surface?

Yes, treat it like a dry erase board and you will be fine. Felt tips only, roller ball tips will dent the surface. And though it shouldn't dent the surface, you probably don't want to deal with removing crayon or grease pencils.

What if the acrylic surface breaks?

The acrylic we use in the table is both durable and flexible. It shouldn't break in normal use. However if some accident maims it we can help you replace it.

Are the plastic/acrylic surfaces scratch resistant?

Yes and no, Treat the surfaces as you would a dry erase board and you should be just fine. If damage occurs, it can be repaired with a plastics kit.

What kind of maintenance does the Sultan require?

What is underneath the LayerCake?

The extra deep drawers hide here, as does a hidden storage space for maps, accessible by removing the middle drawer. (Though do note that if you have a Sultan Polestar table this hidden storage is removed in favor a more usable desk station) Also there are long joists to ensure the stability of your table and evenness of your playing surface.

Short Answer: We are determined to give you a table that will withstand the test of time.

TLDR Answer: For example if you wanted a music player in your table in the 1970's you wanted an 8 track tape deck, 1980's a cassette tape deck, 1990's a CD player, 2000's an Ipod docking station, 2010's small spike that you impale into the listeners tympanic bone is now the only way to listen to music, rendering the installation of any of the previous technology a useless scar upon your beautiful table. (No, we don't actually know if that last one is where music is heading, but if it does, you heard it here first.) The same goes for laptop electrical cords, we can install attachments to deal with power cords, but at the rate battery technology is changing, like your cellular phone or mp3 player, you may just have a docking type station that you set it on at night rendering the need for cords obsolete.

Why does a different wood cost more money?

We buy walnut and maple by the truckload which brings down the cost for us and ultimately the cost for you. If we have to buy just enough wood in the type you want for your table, the cost will be greater . Additionally putting your wood into production always has it’s unique quirks and results in longer labor hours bringing the cost of the table up.

Can I get it in a different wood?

Short answer, yes but for a increased price.

We picked black walnut as our primary wood for a number of reasons. One, it is less suseptible to swelling and contraction seasonally than other wood, which makes the tolerances we can achieve with our flip down desks and similar features more precise. Two, we believe black walnut matches a larger variety of wood tones than any other.

Well.. kind of. We deliver the price that we can based on the assumption of a certain amount of efficiencies in the production proccess. That is just a longwinded way of saying “potentially, but it will be expensive”. If it is important to you however contact us and we will work with you as we have done with others in the past to get your piece just right.

What is custom furniture anyway?

Short Answer: Any piece of furniture that is made to order is considered custom. (kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, sofa's. . .)

TLDR Answer: A custom piece of furniture is firstly made to order for the client. This does not necessarily mean that the client must design it. Secondly it is usually made out of non-dimensional lumber. This means the craftsman gets rough sawn lumber from a distributor or lumber mill which must first be run through a jointer to ensure it is squared, then the board is rough cut with a band type saw to the width desired, and finally the board is planed smooth. (You now have lumber that resembles lumber you may purchase through a local lumber store.) Now the lumber can begin to be cut out into the patterns to make the furniture. Finally custom allows the craftsman to make small changes if needed for the clients piece that large scale manufacturing does not allow for.

The question you are really asking is are you building your tables in an environmentally consious way. The answer is a resounding yes. We use only domestic hardwoods from sustainable forrests with real oversite. We are constantlty evaluating manufacture to reduce our environmental impact. Here at Geek Chic we believe that the simplest and best way to be green is to buy something you don’t intend to throw away. Quality durable goods cost more, but the costs are in the renewable resource of human labor and not finite resources.

Short Answer: We offer a Sultan abridged that has a 4' by 6' interior play surface bring the external dimensions to 5.5' by 7.5'. Additionally, both The Emissary and the Spartan come in smaller configurations and at a lower price point.

Short Answer: High quality materials and labor intensive craftsmanship cost money. We have set the price as low as we can without going bankrupt in the process. In comparison, high end pool tables cost more and do less with inferior craftsmanship.
